The Government of the United Kingdom is offering free scholarships to International students who wish to further their studies in UK in 2018/2019. This scholarship offer is aimed at developing global leaders. It is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations.

This Scholarships are provided for students to study any subject of their choice at any UK University. Also, the scholarship offer will cover for a full or part funding for full-time courses at postgraduate level, normally a one-year Master’s degree at any UK University.


Eligibility for this Scholarship offer: 

To be eligible for a Chevening Award you must:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country
  • Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended
  • Have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK.
  • Have at least two years’ work experience (this may be up to five years for fellowship programmes, so please refer to your country page for further details)
  • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by 12 July 2018
  • Meet the Chevening English language requirement by 12 July 2018


You are not eligible for a Chevening Award if you:

The English language test must be taken from one of these providers on or after 1 October 2015. If you do not already have an existing eligible test certificate, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have booked a test date so that you can obtain the required results.

Applicants are not permitted to take pre-sessional courses to fulfil the Chevening English language requirement. You will be required to take one of the approved English language tests unless you fall into one of the exempt categories.

Applicants are not permitted to enrol on pre-sessional courses to fulfil their university’s English language requirement or any other conditions of a university offer. Any offer from a university with a requirement to undertake a pre-sessional course will be considered conditional.

University of Laval is pleased to offer master’s scholarships to international students of high academic ability for 2018 entry. Scholarships are awarded to undertake postgraduate degree programme at the university. The purpose of this program is to promote academic excellence by offering scholarships to foreign students who are citizens of an African or European country (other than France) and are admitted to a master’s programme at University of Laval.

University of Laval is the oldest centre of education in Canada, and was the first institution in North America to offer higher education in French. The mission of the student awards and financial aid office is to inform students of the various forms of financial aid available and to support and assist them in seeking out aid to help them pursue their studies.

Applicants graduated from a public university accredited by the ministry of higher education in your country of origin. For private institutions, eligibility is determined when the file is reviewed. Applicants must also demonstrate sufficient mastery of the language of instruction, which is French. For admission to a master’s programme, the equivalent of a North American bachelor’s degree is required.

This scholarship of $7,000 per year is renewable once, subject to compliance with the faculty’s criteria of excellence and upon the research director’s recommendation and faculty approval.

How to Apply for this Scholarship offer:

There is no form to complete for master’s level scholarships. Scholarships are automatically awarded to candidates admitted to a master’s programme. Recipients are selected using information from admission applications received by University Laval. To be considered, candidates must submit a complete application for admission to the University no later than the deadline of the target semester. Foreign nationals admitted to a programme of more than 6 months must go through immigration procedures with the Canadian and Québec governments to obtain a Québec Certificate of Acceptance (CAQ), a Study Permit (Canada) and Mandatory Medical and Hospital Insurance .
